SMELL THE ROSES--BLOW OUT THE CANDLES

As an infant becomes a toddler, a parent can easily teach early principles of deep breathing and relaxation by utiloizing the simple prinicples of inhalation (taking a deep breath in ) and exhalation (blowing the breath out).  Three common childhood practices incorporates these principles.  These include blowing out birthday candles, blowing bubblies through a straw and making a whirligig go round and round with human breathes.

Believe it or not, these early childhood events are most effective in later teenage and adult life when dealing with stress and anxiety.  Asthmatics are taught to smell the roses (inhale) and bloow out the candles (exhale) to control not only their shortness of breath but also their anxiety.

Controlling one's own anxiety is an important part of pan control and stress management throughout the human life span. By combining deep breathing with other relaxation techniques such as gentle massage, aromatic spa experiences and therapeutic touch anyone can learn self-control of the daily stressors in their life.

THE ANSWER MY FRIEND IS BLOWIN' IN THE WIND...

In the early 1960's the wonderful folk group, Peter, Paul and Mary blessed us with many song with lyrics that depicted the troubling times.  Great symbolism can be found between the turbulent times of the 1960s and the 2000s. While searching for ways to cope with the stresses of our daily lives, we often discover the Answer my Friend is Blowin' in the Wind!!!
